About StraySoft
Straysoft, revolutionary Business Intelligence with Microsoft Excel

StraySoft is a software startup created to develop a new generation of business intelligence software.

We believe that current Business Intelligence is not something for the big guys like is often depicted today. Business Intelligence is simply a technology backed approach to good business administration. Whenever figures are too complex to be kept inside someone's head, than you need BI.

We see that there's a midrange market devoid of attention by large player. This market is populated by analysts and controllers who do need to do their job and have very few tools beyond Excel. Making life easier for them is our primary goal. This vision is the result of about 15 years of experience, implementing BI at various levels.

FAQ :

Q: what is your business model?

A:Simple, we create and sell Business Intelligence software.
Sometimes we do not call it this way because we have to make ourselves understood by non technicians, but that's the way it is.

Q: how can you make good software with such a tiny structure?

A: Who told you that the structure is tiny? Even if StraySoft is a micro ISV, we are not committed at all to this choice. There are many external contributors who help us. More, we have a few great advisors who help us in specific areas. As soon as it will be possible, we'll set up a more conventional structure.

This is not the only reason: we use The Microsoft Office System as our primary development environment. This eases the effort required to build all those little functionalities that Office can provide natively.

Anyway, why should we try to sell what has been already purchased with Office?

Q: what happens if you go belly-up next year?

A: We realize that you are taking a risk purchasing software from us, and thank you for considering in the first place.

StraySoft is an extremely lean company that can go on for years before actually having to quit. We are extremely committed for not making this happen (Hey, we love what we are doing!).

We are also working on building a partner network that could pick up the applications.

At last, there are many outstanding examples of micro ISVs which provide best of breed software to much larger companies. You can check Balsamiq and Userscape for such success stories.

Majors, nonetheless, usually buy, sell, discontinue or create non backward compatible versions of their software all the times. Which is the worst risk?

Q: Why did you name the company with such an awful name? Why the cat?

A: The answer is provided here, the cat is below. I've been advised to change the name but I feel like going upstream for that!
