SQL Server 2005 Software Viney@rd architecture is classic Client-Server. The client applications (Excel Add-in and Administrative interface) require Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 ® to be installed and working on the system running it. The client machine must also have the appropriate version of the SQL Native Client to connect to the chosen SQL server version. The server application is built upon a MS SQL Server® Database. So the MS SQL Server instance must be reachable. To set up and configure the client applications, a user with administrative rights is required. Once configured, applications can run with a user with low privileges. The user must be enabled to run macros. Trusting application file locations is highly recommended. To set up the server, a SQL Server login with sysadmin role must be available. Space Requirements Client The administrative interface (MasterBook.xlsm) is a macro enabled workbook about 600 Kbytes. If data worksheets are added, than size increases accordingly. The Excel Add-in (ModelDoc.xlam) occupies about 400 Kbytes. Queries are saved along with the Excel file containing it, adding a size dependent from query complexity. The complete installation requires about 15 Mbytes on client disk. Server The initial size of Vineyard database is 200 Mbytes (half for data and half for log). It increases at 100 Mbytes steps upon the increasing of data. This setup can be changed by a trained SQL server DBA, but keep in mind that Viney@rd always creates new tables in the primary filegroup.
